This letter was sent to a national newspaper in response to their article.

It reflects on the Godwyn family’s relationship with Davies Wealth Management over four generations.

The letter is reproduced with the kind permission of our valued client Mr Bryan Godwyn.

I read your article regarding St. James's Place  and wanted to share my story with you.

My Father met his contact at SJP some 33 years or so ago and after much research and consideration decided to move most of his investments to their care.

Both my Mother and Father enjoyed an incredible relationship with Kevin Davies ( his SJP wealth management partner) and probably around 20 years or so I was then introduced to Kevin and his son Robert who was also working with Kevin and SJP.

Over lunch and many follow up meetings we spoke about many things including what my financial goals were and my work situation, my aspirations and so on ( how much did I think I would need when I retire etc -IE My lifestyle choices etc)

Over a long period of time Kevin and Robert both helped my wife and I plan our financial future, when my Mother passed away both Kevin and Robert were there to help my Father my sister and I plan our way through the finances and the best way of restructuring my father’s investments.

When my Father became frail, SJP were again on hand to help us plan my Fathers long term financial care, ensuring he had everything he needed but to also try to plan for the future without him in a professional, caring and understanding way. Looking at IHT and the like.

This is a very delicate and emotional subject and needed careful handling and SJP were again first class.

Finally, when my Father passed way in care SJP were on hand to help us work our way through the tax situation, we received help regarding probate and his will and they helped make sure my father’s wishes were carried out properly .They were not executors, they just helped because that is the kind of people they are.

Through their help we were introduced to amazing people who worked with us, HMRC and all the necessary parties to calculate the right sums were paid to the right people, charities were paid as per my father’s wishes and then the rest was shared between my sister and myself.

My Sister used SJP to invest her funds and to my knowledge has been extremely happy with them and their performance and whilst I had already become an investor with SJP I did invest further funds.

My son has now started investing with SJP and I have started investing for my 3 Grandchildren too. So 4 generations with SJP.

The returns we receive are in my view excellent and represent great value for money and the service and support we get are second to none. In fact, I have recommended SJP to friends who have also been delighted with the service they have received.

My point is that SJP have been an amazing source of support to myself, my sister, my Mother and Father, now my son and I am sure my Granddaughters too.

SJP, in my view give a true long term partnership, they take time to understand my financial needs and aspirations and in my experience have helped me tremendously to achieve them.

I cannot recommend them highly enough and to be honest don't recognise the picture you paint of SJP in your article.

Yours truly

Bryan Godwyn

Past performance is not indicative of future performance.  The value of an investment with St. James's Place will be directly linked to the performance of the funds selected and may fall as well as rise. You may get back less than the amount invested.
